Aishan Saheb:
The shrine of Sheikh Yaqoob Sarfi an eminent
scholar, poet and Sufi saint is on the left bank of River Jhelum. Sarfi
belonged to the Kubrawi sub-sect of Sufism, in which he was trained in
Khwarizmi (Uzbekistan). It is believed that one day Prophet Mohammed (PBUH)
visited the Sheikh in a dream and gave him the title ‘Aishan Saheb” because of
his Godliness. The Sheikh’s annual Urs is celebrated on the 12th day
of the Hijri month of Ziqab.
